Bedford Musician Sings On TV's 'The Voice' Tuesday

BEDFORD, N.Y. – After a year at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Music Management, Bedford native Collin McLoughlin moved back home to work on his music, and it looks as if his leave of absence is paying off.

McLoughlin , 24, will get some national exposure on Tuesday night's blind audition episode of NBC's "The Voice." The show features four celebrity singer judges: pop-soul singer Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, pop diva Christina Aguilera and country star Blake Shelton.

This is the fifth night of blind auditions: judges listen to aspiring contestants without seeing them, only their "voice." At this point in the audition process, Aguilera and Levine have each recruited nine artists for their teams, while Green and Shelton have each picked seven.

Singer/songwriter McLoughlin, a graduate of Rippowam Cisqua School in Bedford and Colgate University, posts videos of himself performing acoustic and electronic covers and mashups of pop songs like Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You” and Adele’s “Someone Like You,” which have garnered hundreds of thousands of hits from the YouTube audience .

His mashup of “Stereo Hearts” by Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine reached nearly 2 million hits. McLoughlin also posts his original music, melodic, soulful tracks such as "Keep on Sleeping" and "Chasing Dreams." Earlier this year, McLoughlin made it to the regional finals of Billboard’s Battle of the Bands contest.

McLoughlin also has written electronic and acoustic songs, some of which he has sold to record labels. While at Colgate, he founded Broad Street Records, which is still in operation.

A preview clip from Tuesday night’s show is on the NBC website . The episode airs at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
