According to moneyrates.com, a personal finance site, Connecticut's high unemployment caused it to fall back in the ratings, along with low marks for workplace safety.

States were ranked in terms of average wages, taxes, cost of living, unemployment rate, and incidents of workplace safety and included data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), and D.C. think tank, the Tax Foundation..

Keeping company with Connecticut is Hawaii, Oregon, Maine, West Virginia, Vermont, California, Montana, South Dakota, and Rhode Island.

As where you should live if you want to make a living? The site gave those accolades to Texas, Washington Wyoming, Virginia, Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, Delaware, Ohio and Utah.
