Ira Granberg, a local architect who is working on the project, disclosed the name and timeline to the Village Board of Trustees at a Monday appearance. The board approved a resolution in connection with landscaping work for the restaurant, located at 130-132 E. Main Street, because a small piece of village property is involved. The proposal previously received site plan approval from the Planning Board.
A full opening could happen on or around Labor Day, according to Grandberg.
The architect provided further details to local reporters after the board’s approval, including the fact that Winston will have a rooftop bar and a mix of American and European cuisine.
Granberg spoke about the years-long timeline for the restaurant and the massive renovation that took place for the building. Structural work included a gutting, new façade, new basement, new bearing walls and a tower addition for an elevator.
Asked what it’s like to be working on a building that he can see from his office, Grandberg called “serendipitous” and added that “it’s convenient.”
Grandberg was also asked about how the restaurant could have on East Main Street merchants. He feels that it will be a contributing factor to revitalizing some of the street because of the building’s quality, adding that it shows a “financial commitment” to the village.
Officially, the site is owned by KH Realty II, LLC, although Grandberg declined to identify who, in turn, owns the company.
One side of the building faces East Main Street (Route 117) while another faces the Blackeby parking lot.
