What's Happening in Bedford This Week

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Here’s a look at events happening in Bedford this week, including government meetings and community happenings.

Monday, April 9

Baby Lap Time: 11 a.m. Drop in to the Katonah Village Library at 26 Bedford Road for songs and stories geared toward infants up to 12 months. 

Sit and Knit: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Knitters can come to the Katonah Village Library for a group session. Bring a work-in-progress to knit or crochet, start a new project or just chat with other knitters.

Tuesday, April 10

Bedford Planning Board Meeting: 8 p.m. The Town of Bedford Planning Board will hold their meeting at the town hall at 321 Bedford Road in Bedford Hills, which will include a hearing on a special use permit request submitted by Martha Stewart. The permit is would be to construct a storage building exceeding 2,500 square feet and 20 feet in height on Girdle Ridge Road in Katonah.

Meeting of CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder): 7:30 p.m. The national nonprofit will hold its monthly meeting at the Four Winds Hospital Conference Center at 800 Cross River Road in Katonah. Dr. Tanya-Marie Sweeney, a pediatric neurologist, will speak on the subject of ADHD diagnosis and accompanying treatments. Fee is $5. There will be a support session for parents from 6:30 to 7:15. 

Election 2012: Making Sense of Presidential Politics Lecture: 7:30 p.m.

Dr. John Barry Kotch, author and former foreign policy task force coordinator for the Carter Administration will speak at the Katonah Village Library about the U.S. presidential election process, addressing issues like electoral map changes, as well as caucuses and primaries and how they differ among states. A group discussion will follow the presentation.

Wednesday, April 11

Town Board Work Session: 7:30 p.m. The session, held at 425 Cherry St. will discuss the refuse ordinance and housing settlement.

Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The board of education will meet at the Little Theatre at Fox Lane Middle School, where the superintendent will present the revised budget to the board. The board will vote on whether or not to approve the budget by April 18. The regular school budget vote is May 15.

Thursday, April 12

Conservation Board Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The Town of Bedford conservation meeting will take place at 425 Cherry St. 

H20, You are What You Drink: 7:30 p.m. Bedford 2020 Water and Land Use Task Force, in partnership with the Westchester Land Trust and The Watershed Agricultural Council, will present a special talk on the local watershed. Join the group at Fox Lane High School to discuss the connection between your family's health and the quality of your drinking water.
