What's Happening Around Bedford This Weekend

BEDFORD, N.Y. — A story time for school-age children, a wine tasting at a Katonah wine store and a farm market at John Jay Homestead are among the events happening around Bedford this weekend.

Friday, Aug. 31

Listen: Lore and Legend: 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. This storytime for children in grades three through five features chapter books read aloud. Kids can discover classic books and find some future classics as well. Bedford Hills Free Library, 26 Main Street, Bedford Hills.

Wine and Spirits Tastings at The Finer Winer Tasting Bar: 4 p.m. The Finer Winer, 124 Bedford Road, Katonah.

Saturday, Sept. 1

Bird Banding: 8 to 10 a.m. Kids can see wild songbirds up close as they help safely capture, band and release birds during the program. Suggested donation is $5 per person. John Jay Homestead Farm Market: 9 a.m. The market will offer a variety of baked goods as well as cheeses, wine, meats, fresh seafood, prepared foods, handcrafted condiments and other local and regional products. Enjoy a guided tour of the 62-acre homestead during market hours. John Jay Homestead, 400 Jay St., Katonah.

Sunday, Sept. 2

Pre-Register for the Katonah 5K: All day. Why not take this Sunday to register for this year's Katonah 5K? The K5K is an annual hamlet event with races for the whole family. A free shirt will be given to the first 125 runners to register, and the first 100 children get a free goodie bag. Register online or at CrossSport Woman located at 194 Katonah Ave. Registration fee is $25. The race will be held at 8 a.m. Sept. 8, starting from Katonah Elementary School, 106 Huntville Road, Katonah.
