BEDFORD, N.Y.—  A training session for garden educatiors, a performance by a Latin Jazz sextet and a butterfly workshop are among the events happening around Bedford this weekend.

Friday, July 6

Take Root! A Training Class for Garden Educators : 9:30 a.m. Take Root! trainings are open to educators and youth workers interested in incorporating garden-learning into their work. John Jay Homestead, 400 Jay St., Katonah.

Paquito D'Rivera Latin Jazz Sextet : 8 p.m. Grammy-Award winning  Latin great Paquito D’Rivera will perform with his favorite Cuban colleagues in this celebration of Cuban melody and rhythm. All ticket holders are invited to attend a post-concert reception with the band. Tickets are $15. Spanish Courtyard, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah.

National Father-Daughter Take a Walk Together Day : 6 a.m. All father/daughter pairs will receive a 10 percent discount on all full-priced items upstairs or down. Little Joe's Books, 25 Katonah Ave., Katonah.

Take Root! A Training for Garden Educators : 2:30 p.m. Take Root! will hold a second garden educator training session on Saturday at the MKCCC. Mount Kisco Child Care Center, 95 Radio Circle, Mount Kisco.

ConsciousWine's Farm-to-Table Dinner at Erica's Kitchen: 7 p.m. Celebrate organic online wine store ConsciousWine's season opener with three wines from Oregon's Youngberg Hill Vineyards. Local farmer John Ubaldo, owner of John Boys Farm, and chef Erica Miller Wallace, owner of Erica's Kitchen, will cook up some tasty dishes to make this an unforgettable culinary experience. Brentano String Quartet: 4:30 p.m. To help celebrate the quartet's 20th anniversary, Caramoor co-commissioned "Fragments: Connecting Past and Present." To create this piece, the Brentanos invited six living composers to write pieces related to fragmentary works by past masters. Regular admission is $15 and al fresco tickets are $10. Venetian Theater, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah.
