What To Do In Bedford This Weekend

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- A holiday concert, multiple tree lighting ceremonies and a poetry reading by Carol Ann Davis are some of the events happening in the Bedford area this weekend.

Friday, Nov. 30 

Holiday Tea Musicale: 1:30 p.m. This live concert features sing-alongs with artists tenor Brenton Ryan and Maureen Zoltek on piano. A tour of Rosen house and a delicious holiday tea are also included for a fee. Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah.

Bedford Village tree lighting: 6:30 p.m. The Tree Lighting ceremony, sponsored by the Bedford Village Business Association, takes place on Bedford Village Green. It starts with hot chocolate at the Bedford Fire House at 6:30 p.m., followed by carol singing on the Green at 7 p.m., and a countdown to the lighting of the tree. Dress warmly and bring flashlights. Bedford Fire Department, 24 Village Green, Bedford.

Saturday, Dec. 1

Katonah Studio Jazz Band at Via Vanti! 9 p.m. The Katonah Studio Jazz Band returns to Mount Kisco with its own brand of smokin’, hard-driving jazz. Founded in 2005 by Grammy-award winning composer, audio producer and pianist Robert Kessler and saxophonist R.J. Marx, KSJB is a collective musical ensemble featuring some of northern Westchester’s top players. The group pays respectful homage to classic jazz masters Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Stan Getz and Bill Evans Via Vanti!, 2 Kirby Plaza, Mount Kisco.

Bedford Hills tree lighting: 5 p.m. The Bedford Hills Neighborhood Association will hold its annual Tree Lighting Saturday at Depot Plaza for caroling, cookies and hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa Claus. Mark's Time, 1 Depot Plaza, Bedford Hills.

Sunday, Dec. 2

Carol Ann Davis Poetry reading: 4 p.m. As part of the famed Katonah Poetry Series, NEA poetry fellowship recipient Carol Ann Davis reads from her latest collection of poems "Atlas Hour."  A reception, book signing and conversation with the poet will follow. Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Road, Katonah.

Menorah and Christ Tree Lighting in Katonah: 6 p.m.  Sunday is Katonah's annual Menorah and Christmas Tree Lighting celebration. Come for this special community event and enjoy live music, special treats and help light up Katonah for the holidays. St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 68 Bedford Road, Katonah.
