What To Do In The Bedford Area This Weekend

BEDFORD, N.Y. – A make-up party for tweens and teens, a home energy efficiency open house and talk and the opening of an exhibition of art works from local high school students are among the events happening in the Bedford area this weekend.

The 30th Young Artists exhibition opens this weekend at the Katonah Museum of Art. The show features work from more than 300 high school seniors from Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess and Fairfield counties.

Friday, Feb. 1

For Any Tween or Teen Girl Allowed to Regularly Wear Make-up: 6:30 p.m. Reserve your spot for an evening of beauty instruction with professional make-up artist Haley Partridge, who spent more than five years working and training with MAC cosmetics before becoming the manager of one of the largest Nordstrom’s cosmetics departments in the country. "Not DEAD Yet": Playing the Music of the Grateful Dead: 9 p.m. The cover charge for this cover band show is $5. MTK Tavern. 30 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

Free SAT Practice Test from Kaplan: 9 a.m. The Katonah Village Library will host free SAT practice tests provided by Kaplan today and Feb. 16. The test ends at 12:30 pm. Registration is required so call (914) 232-3508 or email katref@wlsmail.org. Students also can register for the test review and strategies session at 7 p.m. Feb. 27. Pre-School Fair at the Katonah Village Library: 10 a.m.  At the library's first annual pre-school fair, representatives from area nursery and pre-school programs will be available to answer parents' questions. Efficient, Green and Healthy: New Year's Resolutions for Your Home: 2 p.m. This open house and talk presented by Brenner Builders’ Healthy Home Energy and Consulting, Inc., Wittus Fire by Design and Energize Bedford will take a look at tips, as well as at the challenges and opportunities that homeowner's face in making and keeping their homes energy efficient. Young Artist 2013 Opening Reception: 3 p.m. Celebrating its 30th year, the eight-day young artists exhibition showcases the talents of more than 300 high school seniors from Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess and Fairfield counties.
