Wednesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. – Katonah Village Library

Lecture: “Ecological Impacts of Fracking on Plant and Animal Life” with Dr. Erik Kiviat

Join Hudsonia’s Erik Kiviat for an exploration of these ecological impacts as well as a discussion on the disposal of fracking wastes from other states, the construction and expansion of the Westchester Algonquin Pipeline and other gas transmission pipelines, and a possible reversal of New York’s current fracking ban. This program is free and no registration is required. Refreshments will be served at 7 p.m. (please bring a reusable mug to reduce the ecological footprint). The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Seed Sale Pick-up, Town of Bedford Office Complex

Don’t forget to pick up pre-ordered seed, suet, nesting material and hummingbird feeders from Bedford Audubon. The Town of Bedford Office Complex is located at 425 Cherry St., Bedford Hills.

Workshop: Warblers with Naturalist-in-Residence Tait Johansson

This workshop will focus on how to go about learning to identify the varied warbler species in this celebrated family of birds by sound, as well as by sight. Cost is $40 for members and $55 for non-members. The Audubon Society will convert the workshop fee to a one-year membership at the Black-capped Chickadee level; cost includes “The Warbler Guide” by Stephenson and Whittle. Annual Drew’s Walk at Franklin-Fels Sanctuary with Naturalist-in-Residence Tait Johansson

This annual walk is in memory of Andrew Reynolds. Reynolds was a longtime friend, member and volunteer who marked and surveyed the trail system in Franklin-Fels Sanctuary. This walk also makes for a great introduction to Bedford Audubon’s second largest sanctuary. The walk will depart Bylane at 9:30 a.m. or meet at the Sanctuary entrance on Lakeview Drive at 10 a.m. This nature walk is free. Level of difficulty is easy to moderate.
