Panels On Dangers During Prom, Graduation Include NWH Doctors

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Northern Westchester Hospital doctors will be participating in panel discussions on "What Every Parent Should Know About Prom Night and Graduation Season" at Fox Lane and John Jay high schools this week.

Northern Westchester Hospital's Dr. Jim Dwyer will be presenting in a panel about the dangers of underage drinking during prom season.

Northern Westchester Hospital's Director of Emergency Medicine Dr. Jim Dwyer will be presenting at the event held at 7 p.m Tuesday, April 22 at Fox Lane High School. 

Additionally, Northern Westchester Hospital's Emergency Department Associate Director Dr. David Zuckerberg will present at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 24  at John Jay High School.  

The doctors will be among other panelists to discuss health and legal consequences of underage drinking, drug use and decision making during prom season. 

Parents will learn about the legal and health consequences of:

- If a teen is caught with alcohol or other drugs - If alcohol or other drugs are used by teens in homes - If a teen consumes alcohol at home and then injures himself or others

Teens will learn the legal and health consequences of: - If they are caught holding two driver’s licenses - If friends are caught possessing an illegal drug in their car without your knowledge - If you mix alcohol or other drugs with prescribed or over-the-counter medication

Students from the performing arts department will perform scenarios for discussion.

The event is sponsored by the Bedford/Lewisboro/Pound Ridge Drug Abuse Prevention Council.
