The project has its roots in the story of Katonah's relocation. During the late 19th century, the hamlet was to be displaced by the building of the Green River Reservoir. Townspeople were able to lift their homes onto logs, pulled by horses on soaped-up timbers to the town's current location.
Larson wanted to honor that history, along with a nod to architect Edward Larrabee Barnes, the man behind the Museum of Art. Larson recreated Barnes' home in Mount Kisco at full-scale in the museum's sculpture garden, by building it as if it were dragged along on logs, lifted by timbers and shot through with spruce trees.
The exhibition will run from Sunday until June 28. Tickets for Larson's talk and tour will be $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and students, while museum members and children under 12 get in free.
The museum is at 134 Jay St., along Route 22 in Katonah.
