Lasdon Park To Host Horticulture Events In February

Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial is a 234-acre property consisting of woodlands, open grass meadows and formal gardens. The park is home to several inspirational memorials and a museum honoring Westchester veterans.

The following is the schedule of events at Lasdon in February: 

  • Make a Gourd Birdhouse – Saturday, Feb. 1, 10:30 a.m. – noon. Create a unique gourd house to provide shelter for our feathered friends. Meet in the greenhouse. Fee $15; pre-registration required at (914) 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
  • Valentine’s Day Wreath Workshop for Couples – Saturday, Feb. 8, 10:30 a.m. – noon. Make a heart and dried flower wreath in the greenhouse. Fee $15; pre-registration required at (914) 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
  • Houseplant Propagation – Sunday, Feb. 9, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Learn how to multiply your house plants with the Lasdon horticulturist.
  • Valentine’s Day Bouquet Workshop – Friday, Feb. 14, 10:30 a.m. – noon. Create a floral bouquet with candy and flowers to give to your sweetheart, family member or friend. Fee $15; pre-registration required at (914) 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
  • Valentine’s Day Bouquet Workshop for Couples – Saturday, Feb. 15, 10:30 a.m. – noon. Create a floral bouquet with candy and flowers to give to your sweetheart, family member or friend.   • Seed Starting Workshop – Sunday, Feb. 23, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Learn the timing and techniques of starting seeds indoors to get healthy transplants for outdoors.
  • Children’s Adventures in Agriculture for Ages 3 – 6 – Friday, Feb. 28, 10:30 a.m. – noon. You and your child or grandchild can have fun exploring the world of horticulture through gardening activities, nature walks and special projects each week. Fee: $6 per child per session, which includes materials; pre-registration required at (914) 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.
