BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Author and inspirational speaker Lynda Fishman is set to give two presentations at Temple Shaaray Tefila on April 24 and 25.
Fishman will speak during the "Turning Wounds Into Wisdom" lunch and learn at noon Thursday, April 24 and "Tragedy, Tenacity and Triumph" at 7:30 p.m. April 25 at Temple Shaaray Tefila at 89 Baldwin Road in Bedford Corners.
"In 1970, when she was just 13-years-old, Lynda’s life was altered forever," representatives said. "An Air Canada plane traveling from Montreal to Los Angeles crashed in Toronto. Everyone died in that crash, including Lynda’s mother and two younger sisters. Her father fell into a deep depression, and she was essentially left to fend for herself."
Instead of succumbing to the pain, Fishman "made a conscious decision to become happy and to lead a fulfilled life," representatives said.
"Lynda chose to live. She committed herself to learning and growing," representatives said. "Lynda’s tale will surely inspire as we learn how she turned wounds into wisdom and found the strength and courage to not only survive but thrive after such unthinkable personal tragedy."
The public is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served following the service.
