The Washington Borough man was 53 years old when he and his mother, 84-year-old Elaine Trachin, were attacked at their home in Washington Borough (Warren County), in 2021, as Daily Voice reported.

Kyle Kaspereen, 24, of Easton, PA, is accused of carrying out the Nov. 30 attack. He has been charged with first-degree charges for murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, and burglary, Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer stated in a release following his arrest.

An autopsy set for Thursday, Oct. 26 will determine the cause of Trachin's death, Pfeiffer tells Daily Voice. If the injuries are related to the 2021 attack, charges will be upgraded for Kaspereen, the prosecutor said.

Trachin's death was announced Wednesday, Oct. 25, in a Facebook group called Bart's Battalion, which was launched after the harrowing incident in which he was found taped to his wheelchair with a garbage bag over his head, Pfeiffer explained shortly after he was found.

"It is with a broken heart that I let Barts Battalion know his battle has ended," Lynne Trachin wrote in a post. "Bart fought hard and valiantly but passed quietly last night. Thank you all for your support, thoughts and prayers. Another angel was called home. 💔"

Condolences poured in.

"Bart Trachin passed away quietly last night after a grueling 2 yr battle to recovery. Bart was part of our Sunday ride group, never missing a ride that he thought he was up to," Cycle Madness Motorcycle Repair posted.

"Bart, what a warrior," one mourner commented on Lynne's post. "It is a pleasure to have met him. Overcoming odds, and relentlessly achieving goals he was told he would never be able to. [May] he be at peace, and [may] I be fortunate enough to meet him again in another life."

"A post I never thought I’d see," another added. "He was such a fighter, an inspiration to everyone with his resilience. May he rest in peace. The world lost a good one. My condolences to you and yours."

Daily Voice has reached out to Pfeiffer's office for comment and has yet to hear back as of 4 p.m. on Oct. 25.
