Norwalk Driver Charged With Ramming Car

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man was arrested Monday after damaging a car while leaving the driveway of a woman with whom he had had a romantic relationship, as her husband watched, Norwalk police Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.

The incident happened Sept. 30. A professional service drove the husband home to Old Rock Lane from the airport. The husband and the driver found Paul Ciasullo, 52, of 177 Highland Ave., in the driveway, trying to leave in a black Land Rover. Ciasullo and the man's wife had been involved several months earlier, Cotto said, but the married couple had reconciled.

The 44-year-old husband tried to talk to Ciasullo, who allegedly closed the door of the car and left, ramming the other vehicle, pushing it out of the driveway and across the road in the process.

The car's front bumper and grill were damaged, police said, and the license plate was missing. The 28-year-old driver wasn't injured. He had a suspended driver's license, Cotto said, and was given a citation.

Police found the Land Rover at Ciasullo's home, but he didn't answer the door. He called back on Oct. 2, confirmed he had been driving the car but denied he had caused any damage, Cotto said. He said he would talk to a lawyer.

The warrant for his arrest was signed Oct. 24, and he turned himself in. He was charged with criminal mischief. Bond was set at $5,000. He was also given citations for reckless driving, motor vehicle evading and operating under a suspended license. There was no charge for trespass, Cotto said, because the wife had invited him to the home.
