By your support of this plan, you have helped to ensure our students have the necessary tools to be successful in a 21st-century job market. From nurses in every building, to guidance counselors in every school, to the restoration of our Career and Technical Education program this budget provides exceptional opportunities for all of our youngsters.

I have said it before and I will say it again; I truly believe that I am here by divine intervention. In this place and at this time we have been brought together to transform our school system. Together we can provide our students the programs, supports and education they need to be successful. With the budget behind us, we must now make reality the promises we have made.

We must achieve our goals and restore the faith of our parents and community in our schools. We will not accept mediocrity as we shoot for greatness. Our children deserve no less. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Board of Education for their support over the last eight months. Their stewardship of our schools has placed us on firm ground to achieve greatness.

I would be remiss if I did not thank President Gootzeit and Trustee Crump for their individual dedication and support of our children and our schools. Their motivation and tenacity will be missed. Their unwavering commitment to our schools has been instrumental in the transformation we have begun and for that, I thank them.

Transformation is a process, not a destination. We have much more work to do and I am excited to welcome Wanda White, Micah McOwen and Lesly Zamor to our district as our new Trustees. I am confident their presence and their leadership will enable us to continue to move forward.

I look forward to working with the Board of Education and the school district as a whole as we continue to engage our community in a process to improve our schools and our community.

Yours for the sake of all children,  Kenneth Hamilton Superintendent of Schools
