The annual Frosty Day starts downtown at 12:30 p.m. and celebrates the world’s favorite snowman with family-friendly rides and activities, along with dancers, singers, marching bands, magicians, clowns, elves, Santa, and the star of the show -- the beloved snowman himself.

Shops and merchants will offer face-painting, cookie frosting, holiday ornament decorating and a make-your-own Frosty to carry in the parade, which begins at 4 p.m.

The parade then heads down Main Street with a tree lighting ceremony at 4:30 pm.

Refreshments promise to be plentiful and to up the ante, Armonk's Moderne Barn will be offering free hot chocolate to children 12 and under. For the young at heart, Wine Director Edgar Balagot has created a signature Frosty Day cocktail, made with espresso vodka, white Godiva liquor, Baileys, and cream.

Lyricist Steve Nelson was a long-time Armonk resident and is said to have written “Frosty the Snowman” as taking place in his hometown. The song became an instant classic when recorded by Gene Autry in 1950 and went on to inspire a book and the animated holiday specials.

Friends of Frosty Inc., a non-profit group of local volunteers formed to oversee the day’s events, encourages visitors to contribute to its “Help Frosty Help Others” campaign by donating either in Frosty jars during the event, or with contributions to its Winter Warmth Project that collects outdoor jackets and gear for those in need.
