Homebuyer Help: Staying Prepared In A Fast Paced Real Estate Market

Meghan Clark of Ginnel Real Estate has over a decade of experience in the business, and understands the challenges of buying a home. "Take your time when finding a home because chances are you aren't going to move into the first house you see," said Clark. "Continue to look online and monitor the activity of some of your top listings. Eventually, the perfect home will present itself to you."

After the preliminary Google searches for interesting homes, it's time to get a little more serious. Hire an agent who knows how to work fast and understands the market. "Not all real estate agents are the same and you should hire someone who understands what you are looking for," said Clark. "Choose an agent who moves fast and simplifies the process so you can beat other buyers to the punch. And if technology is important to you when looking for homes, find an agent who is tech savvy as well."

Being prepared to make an aggressive offer when the right home is available is also important. When the real estate market is hot, there’s no time for being picky. "Feel out the offer and take your time before pulling the trigger," said Clark. "Also understand someone else is in your position, and might make an offer before you do. It's a tough decision, but if a home feels worth investing in, then seriously consider the offer."

Buying a home in a fast paced market can be very stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. Knowing what to expect before making an offer and utilizing tools and tricks to navigate the market, can bypass much unnecessary stress.

"Purchasing a home is a huge decision for any potential buyer, so do research, hire the right agent and be ready to make tough, quick decisions," said Clark.
