The benefit, at John Jay Homestead, will help raise funds for the Bedford Playhouse.
The performance has special meaning to Bedford resident and Music Publisher Nicholas Firth. As narrator and baritone of the group, he said it was a perfect fit to marry his group -- which will be highlighting songs from Hollywood movies -- to a movie theater that is beloved in the area.
Six of Clubs mainly performs in NYC; this is their first Westchester performance. The group is made up of John Hargraves, Beatrice Broadwater, Win Rutherfurd, Rich Miller and Angela Cason. All are noted singers in their own right -- many have performed with the Blue Hill Troupe -- but most have "day" jobs in professions as diverse as academia, law and digital marketing,
The group came together In 2010 after performing-- for fun -- songs from the finest American songs of Broadway musical theater and Hollywood musicals for friends.
They were so well-received they began performing across the Eastern Seaboard and in particular, in Manhattan, where most of them live. Firth credits a lot of their success to Pianist/Producer John Hargraves along with the mix of musical history, and camaraderie inherent in six friends.
"Hooray for Hollywood" is the group's sixth show. Firth says those who come to the Bedford event can expect music from classic movies spanning the years from 1930 to l950.
"To date, we have over 1,100 supporters and we are extremely close to raising the funds necessary to start construction for the Playhouse, which is so important to our community," said Firth.
