Bedford Historical Society Presents Talk, Book Signing With Author Kalman

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Bedford Historical Society is hosting a talk and book signing with noted illustrator, author and designer Maira Kalman from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at 1787 Court House, 615 Old Post Road, Bedford.

Kalman will talk about the creative process, read from her books and sign any of her books after the talk Refreshments and tours of the Court House, including the oldest jail cell in Westchester County, also will be available.

Kalman is the author and illustrator of 18 children’s books and a frequent contributor to The New Yorker magazine who is known for her collaboration with Rick Meyerowitz on the “New Yorkistan” cover in 2001 and “The New York City Sub-Culinary Map.”

She created an online column for the New York Times, including a year-long exploration of American history and democracy. She’s collaborated with Michael Pollan to illustrate his acclaimed "Food Rules."

Kalman recently published "Girls on Lawns" and "The Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum" will be published in connection with an exhibition she has curated, "Maira Kalman: My Favorite Things."
