Bedford Audubon Holding Nature Walks, Butterfly Workshop

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Bedford Audubon has organized a list of events for the upcoming months and July's butterfly workshops will kick off the summer season.

Volunteers can join the Audubon on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. through the end of October as the Leon Levy native Garden at Bylane Farm is expanded and renovated. Gardeners of all ages are invited (16 and under must be accompanied by an adult). Contact Janelle at jrobbins@bedfordaudubon.org or (914) 232-1999 for an application.

The seventh season of Science in Action: Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship will take place in July and August and those interested in the Audubon's conservation research can participate. A butterfly workshop with Tait Johansson will take place on Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $40 for members and $55 for non-members (includes course materials). Register by July 8 with Jeanne Pollock at jpollock@bedfordaudubon.org or (914) 519-7801.

Join Tait Johanssn and Friends of Muscoot Farm for a butterfly walk on Sunday, July 12 at 10 a.m. The cost is free and no registration is required.

Tait Johansson will lead a butterflies and dragonflies walk through the Hunt-Parker Sanctuary on Thursday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is free. Register with Jeanne Pollock at jpollock@bedfordaudubon.org or (914) 519-7801.

Field Trip: Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge will take place on Wednesday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Tait Johansson. Bring binoculars, lunch, sunscreen, plenty of water, and boots/footwear that you don’t mind getting muddy. The group will depart Bylane at 8:45 a.m. or meet at Visitor Center at 10 a.m. The cost is free. Register with Jeanne Pollock at jpollock@bedfordaudubon.org or (914) 519-7801.
