'Art Show: Bedford' Runs This Weekend At St. Mathew's Church

BEDFORD, N.Y. – The 2015 Art Show: Bedford will run from Jan. 23 through Jan. 25 at the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church’s Fellowship Hall in Bedford.

A preview party to be held on Jan. 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. will feature a champagne reception and hors d'oeuvres by Happiness Is, as well as “small plates” donated by Happiness Is and Campagna, with desserts by La Tulipe.

Admission to the preview party is $125 in advance and $150 at door. Entry to the show is free on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25. The gallery will be open on Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Jan. 25 from noon to 4 p.m.

The event will showcase a mix of contemporary and traditional art, sculpture and photography.

This year, the show will include a study of a painting by Stephen Hannock called “Northern City Renaissance: Newcastle, England,” which was commissioned by the musician Sting. Hannock is donating 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of his study toward the Art Show: Bedford.  

Show proceeds will also benefit local charities supported by the Women of St. Matthew’s.

This show is curated by Inness Hancock and Susan Grissom.

Grissom is the gallery director of The Lionheart Gallery in Pound Ridge, N.Y.

St. Matthew's Church of Bedford has been holding this annual event since 1972 with an emphasis on connecting local artists and affordable artwork with the Bedford community while supporting local charities.
