The 5,500 members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1500 will reportedly continue to work despite Stop & Shop's refusal of a contract extension.
The union is threatening to strike in response to alleged threats by Stop & Shop to drastically reduce or cut healthcare benefits.
Stop & Shop has 12 locations in 10 towns in Westchester County, including White Plains, Tarrytown, Ossining, Somers, Port Chester, Mamaroneck, Yonkers, Eastchester, Dobbs Ferry, New Rochelle and Mount Vernon.
