Last week, officials announced that they have begun reviewing the bids. On Thursday, it was announced that FerroStar Westchester Airport Partners, HPN Aviation Group and MIC Airports have offered to bring their expertise to Westchester to run the airport.

According to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, each of the firms’ proposals had to meet the conditions of the FAA program that allows profits from airport operations to be used for public purposes, ensure the airport would maintain its current size, maintain strict environmental safeguards and provide financial benefits for taxpayers.

Moving forward, the county’s Airport Task Force will review the proposals from the three companies, then a lease will be negotiated with the chosen company. There will then be a vote on the company’s merits by the Board of Legislators, which will take place before the end of the year, requiring a minimum of 12 votes.

Astorino noted that no financial information regarding the RFPs will be made public until a lease goes to the Board of Legislators, so as to not undermine negotiations.

“We’re pleased with the level of expertise, experience and professionalism that each of these respondents brings to the table,” Astorino said. “I’m confident that our initiative will result in a revitalization of Westchester County Airport that benefits taxpayers, enhances the experiences of passengers, and protects the character of the surrounding communities. This is about smart government working to position a vital county asset for a strong future.”
