The pancake chain celebrated National Pancake Day at its restaurants across the country, including locations in Hartsdale, Yonkers, Larchmont, Mohegan Lake, West Nyack, and Poughkeepsie.

Customers got a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes with the hope they will donate to help children battling critical illnesses. IHOP is hoping to raise $3.5 million nationwide.

Empty tables were in short supply at the Hartsdale location, as the parking lot was full of people wanting to get their free flapjacks. The Hartsdale location was donating to the Children's Miracle Network.

Tara Smith, a New Rochelle resident, was enjoying some chocolate chip pancakes and chicken fingers with hot chocolate with whipped cream.

"It's delicious," Smith said. "I was super excited when I heard it was National Pancake Day."

Smith said she was looking forward to donating in honor of her free pancakes.
