The site was welcomed back by several customers who had patronized the location Splash run in the area for 18 years before closing in 2013.

Stage, screen and television actor Chazz Palminteri was the first customer to Splash's new Bedford Hills location.

The new car wash has two wash tunnels and a separate detailing building to serve the diverse customer base in the area. One tunnel is a full-service hand car wash, which washes cars on a conveyor, but has employees using lambs wool mitts to wash the car.

The service includes vacuuming and window cleaning, which is performed in less than 15 minutes.

For those looking for an exterior-only service, Splash built a second wash tunnel with automated equipment to wash customers’ cars.

Splash had a rough journey to the opening of its new site in Bedford Hills. The car wash chain had been involved in a contentious legal dispute with the landlord of its previous site in Bedford Hills, where it had been since 1995, and was ordered to vacate in 2013.

In 2014, the Bedford Planning Board unanimously approved Splash's proposal for its new location at 570 N. Bedford Road.

“What a great way for us to celebrate our 35th anniversary," said Chris Fisher, one of the co-founders of Splash. “We are just so excited to be back in Bedford Hills. It’s a great community we served for close to two decades, and we think they’ll like what we’ve done with this new site!”

While the location is similar to Splash’s sites in Greenwich and Shelton, Conn., in that it boasts two wash tunnels, it is the largest facility Splash operates.

“This is really our flagship location," said Mark Curtis, another Splash co-founder. “We tried to think of every detail to enhance the customer experience whether they use the hand wash or the express exterior wash. I really think people will enjoy both.”

Splash opened its first car wash in 1981 in Greenwich, Conn., and now operates 19 locations in Connecticut and New York, which include seven oil changes.
