Croton's Seth A. Davis Elected Vice Chair Of ABA's Seer

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Seth A. Davis, a Croton resident and partner in Elias Group LLP in Rye, was elected vice chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources Law.

Under SEER’s by-laws, he will become section chair in August 2016.

Davis has practiced for almost 40 years and has specialized in environmental law since 1980. He has practiced at the Rye-based environmental law firm The Elias Group since 2004.

He worked in both law firms and the law departments of two of the country’s largest corporations, developing programs for corporate compliance with federal environmental and health statutes as they were enacted.

He was involved in negotiations for cleanup of one of the country’s first multi-party Superfund sites, the Bluff Road site in South Carolina, and was actively involved in remediating hazardous waste sites throughout the United States, including Puerto Rico.

Davis has specialized in handling environmental liabilities in a wide range of transactions involving the utility, consumer product, chemical and other industries. Davis has, on repeated occasions, chaired citizens committees on environmental issues in Croton-on-Hudson, most notably the successful opposition to onsite incineration of PCB wastes at the Metro North railroad yard. Davis is a graduate of the Harvard Law School and Wesleyan University. He is an adjunct professor in Pace Law School’s environmental program and lectures frequently on environmental subjects. He is chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Croton-on-Hudson. For the past 10 years, Davis directed Destination Imagination, the world’s largest creative problem-solving competition for youth, for the Eastern Region of New York. He was also a four-time winner on TV’s “Jeopardy!” in 1991.
