I think everyone who has written, except the lawyer, needs to study up on their grammar and spelling; it is a disgrace. Having said that, the deer out on LI were being slaughtered by sharpshooters until the contraceptive solution was proposed, and ultimately, supported by residents. It is working and although only time will tell, it appears to be a good, long-term solution. Your reasons to kill deer are primarily aesthetic and that makes me sick, but I understand the seriousness of the tick issue. If venison is [really] given to the hungry and homeless, then I believe that some hunting is justifiable. The best part about hunters is that--at times--they shoot each other--and that makes this animal-loving, environmentally-conscious resident feel that justice is served in the most unlikely of places.
jordan, are you one of the people who are part of the over population? If so what is your solution to that problem. If not, who is? Do you get to decide who must go?
I think the author of this article got the wool pulled over his eyes...or he is very sympathetic to animal rights causes. Nothing wrong with either reason BUT there are wholesale inaccuracies and patent falsehoods throughout the story. Almost laughable that 60 to 100 hunters at a time were out stalking deer...they must have been blind then if they only bagged 525 deer in six years...I'm surprised this battalion has never been photographed. Perhaps they move around by that helicopter at night stealthily tracking four legged flower eaters from the sky. This might explain the low results..bows getting misguided by chopper wash. It all makes sense now.
I don't see ms.blackmans solution....she does employ trendy buzzwords very well.
I do look forward to your next article and hope it is half as entertaining and twice as truthful as the first.
